The NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate is aimed at managers and supervisory staff who have to ensure that their organisation meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation. The NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate is therefore suitable for people moving into fire safety adviser roles, as delegates completing this course should be able to carry out fire risk assessments of most low risk workplaces and identify the range of fire protective and preventative measures needed.
The NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate is accredited at Level 3 within the National Qualification Framework and also meets the academic requirements of IOSH for Technician membership (TechIOSH). The qualification is also accepted by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (llRSM) for associate membership.
The full NEBOSH Fire Safety & Risk Management qualification covers all 3 elements of FC1, FC2 & NGC1 and is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of health and safety management in the workplace alongside the skills and knowledge that those responsible for fire safety require.
Those who take specific units separately will cover certain elements depending on the unit chosen.
Unit NGC1 of the NEBOSH fire risk assessment course is the same unit completed within the curriculum of the NEBOSH General Certificate Course. This means that if it has already been passed by a delegate within the last 5 years as part of a previous NEBOSH course then it does not need to be re-sat as part of the Fire Safety & Risk Management Course. Most courses with this category are conversion courses that only include FC1 and FC2.
The two additional units of the NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate course are units FC1 and FC2.

Note: A description of the content of NGC1 is not repeated here and can be seen in the NEBOSH General Certificate category.
NEBOSH Fire Risk Assessment courses are available as either open public courses or online as a NEBOSH Distance Learning option.
