The NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate is aimed Managers and supervisory staff who have to ensure that their organisation meets its responsibilities under fire safety legislation. NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate is therefore suitable for people moving into fire safety adviser roles as delegated completing this course should be able to carry out fire risk assessments of most low risk workplaces and identify the range of fire protective and preventative measures needed.

The NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate is accredited at Level 3 within the National Qualification Framework and also meets the academic requirements of IOSH for Technician membership (TechIOSH). The qualification is also accepted by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (llRSM) for associate membership.

The NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate is divided into three units. Unit NGC1 is the same unit completed within the curriculum of the NEBOSH General Certificate Course. This means that a common unit already passed within the last 5 years does not need a re-sit, if it has already been passed as part of a previous NEBOSH course. Most courses with this category are conversion courses that only include FC1 and FC2.

NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate Unit FC2 - Fire safety practical application

For this unit candidates are required to carry out a practical exercise, the objective of which is to prove a candidate’s ability to Identify fire hazards in the workplace and those at risk, assess the adequacy of existing fire safety measures, assess the fire risk and where necessary, recommend additional fire safety measures to further reduce risk. They then prepare a report to persuade management on remedial measures that need to be taken.
