IOSH Safety for Senior Executives: The IOSH Safety for Senior Executives course aims to provide directors, owners, senior manager and executives with an understanding of the moral, legal and business case for proactive health and safety management and to give guidance on effective risk management.

The IOSH Safety for Senior Executives/IOSH Directing Safely course is a one day training course.

The course content of the IOSH Safety for Senior Executives/IOSH Directing Safely course is sometimes modified to meet client specific requirements but typically includes:
- Aims and Objectives. An overview and introduction to the programme
- Health & Safety management. Examining the reasons for being proactive in the promotion of health and safety and focusing on the influential Turnbull Report, understanding directors’ and employees statutory duties and how to revitalize the organisation’s health and safety strategy.
- Health & Safety – Getting it wrong! Raising awareness and understanding of accidents and their causes, consequences and costs.
- Health & Safety – Getting it right! Understanding the principles of effective health & safety management and requirements for compliance with legislation.
- Planning for success. Identifying the roles of risk assessment and risk control systems in successful planning.
- People – your most valuable asset. Recognising the value of people within the organisation and the factors affecting their performance.
- How well is the organisation performing? Methods by which health and safety performance can be measured.
- Improving performance. The ways in which performance can be improved.

The IOSH Safety for Senior Executives/IOSH Directing Safely course is accredited by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health claim the position of Europe's leading body for health and safety professionals. They are an independent and not-for-profit organisation, aiming to regulate and steer the profession, maintaining standards and providing impartial, authoritative guidance on health and safety issues.
