ISO 9001 evolved from the previous BS 5750 and ISO 9002 standards. ISO 9001: 2015 is now an International Standard for quality management systems, and was the forerunner of other management systems standards, such as IS0 14001, ISO 45001 and a number of sector specific schemes. The ISO 9001 model is seen as a tried and tested specification for management systems and for improving performance within an organisation. It has guiding principals that suit all types of organisation regardless of size or sector. The ISO9001 specification has resulted in a range of QA training related to the standard, from awareness through to detailed knowledge on implementation and auditing skills.
