Introduction
Health and safety legislation demands that employers assess the risk to the health, safety and welfare of their employees in their company’s activities. Those carrying out risk assessments must be competent to do so and all assessments must be documented if there are five or more employees in the company.

Who Should Attend?
This course is aimed at managers, supervisors, safety representatives or any other person with the responsibility of carrying out risk assessments. There are no pre-requisites for delegates attending this training course however a basic knowledge of general health and safety would be an advantage.
Course Objectives
Delegates will gain a clear understanding of:
- The legislative requirements of Risk Assessments and how to ensure that their company complies
- Hazard identification methods
- Risk evaluation, reduction and control
- How to prepare, conduct and record a ‘suitable and sufficient’ risk assessment
- How to implement sensible control measures

- Overview of relevant legislation to include sections of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999

- Risk Assessment and examples
- Defining safe systems of work from risk assessment
- Practical exercises
- Feedback to delegates on risk assessments conducted
- Questions and Answers
Certification and Assessment
Delegates will be assessed on their input during the practical exercise and their feedback. Course certification lasts 3 years.
