NRSWA - New Roads & Street Works Training - Unit 8 (O7) - Operatives - Reinstatement of Concrete Slabs

UNIT 8 ONLY

This unit is designed to allow the candidate to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to carry out the reinstatement of a concrete slab. The candidate will prepare the sub-base to receive the concrete slab, prepare the edges, fix dowel bars, tie-in reinforced mesh and lay the concrete with the correct equipment.

There are 11 learning outcomes to this unit which contain various elements and all must be achieved in order to pass this unit. The candidate must follow safe working practices at all times.

Assessment
The candidate will have written coursework and question sets along with carrying out tests on the concrete.

Reference material used will be the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways, Specification for Highway Works series 1000, HSG 47 and HSG150.

Certification
Upon successful completion the unit can be added to an existing SWQR card as long as the holder already holds units 1 & 2 as a minimum.
