This foundation Signing, Lighting and Guarding training course is designed for Operatives and Supervisors who will have to erect or monitor signing, lighting and guarding for work on the roads and highways. This course is specifically designed for Operatives or Supervisors who do not yet have the necessary previous work experience to pass the 1-day Signing, Lighting & Guarding assessment.
Aim
The Signing, Lighting and Guarding training course aims is to provide Operatives and Supervisors with the skills and knowledge to perform their respective duties when signing, lighting and guarding to the standards prescribed by City & Guilds and in-line with the NRSW Act, in order to safeguard themselves and others.
Course Content
Signing, Lighting and Guarding training course content includes foundation level training on:
- New Roads and Street Works Act
- Basic principles of signing, lighting and guarding.
- Traffic control measures.
- Practical use of the Code of Practice.
- Portable traffic lights.
- Stop / go boards.
- Practical use of equipment.
Upon successful completion of the Signing, Lighting and Guarding training course delegates will receive City & Guilds unit accreditation by way of a certificate.
Delegates should provide a passport photograph on the day of training for production of SWQR Cards.
Delegates should inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication, which may create difficulties in undertaking elements of this training course.
