Our course is aimed at those who have previously attended, and successfully completed, the 3 day FAW course (with any recognised provider) who need to re-qualify. Proof of Certification will need to be provided.
Course Content
- Refreshing and updating existing skills
- Recognition of illness/injury
- Record keeping
- Personal hygiene and infection control
- Unconsciousness
- Resuscitation
- Management of choking casualty
- Bleeding and shock
- Major and minor illnesses
- Fractures
- Burns and scalds
- Poisoning and eye injuries
Outcome
At the end of the course participants will undertake a theory assessment and be observed carrying out a number of practical skills by their course trainer. They will be required to demonstrate proficiency in controlling bleeding, resuscitation and unconsciousness.
Participants will develop the skills necessary to become a competent and confident ‘First Aider’ in the work place and will be awarded a ‘First Aid at Work’ certificate valid for 3 years.
