Course Overview

The SHEA Core modules are not industry specific and are common components of the industry specific training programs.

Course Content:

The SHEA Core modules are:

• Understanding our workplace responsibilities (Module 1)
• Understanding the effects of our work on the environment (Module 2)
• Identifying and controlling risks (Module 3)
• Common hazards in the workplace (Module 4)
• Occupational health hazards (Module 5)
• Responding to emergencies (Module 6)

Assessment

Multiple choice questions after each module.

Certificates

There is no SHEA core specific certification; it is the foundation course for the industry specific courses.

By taking the SHEA core, a learner can then choose which industry specific course they require. These would then be provided at significant discount. It means that, for example, someone requiring SHEA Water, Power and Gas would undertake Core and the specific Power modules on Day 1, then the specific Water and Gas modules on the following day allowing them to get 3 certifications in 2 days at a lower cost than attending the three courses separately.
