What NEBOSH courses are available?
Option 1: General
There are a number of general NEBOSH courses
on offer. They are available at different three different levels including award level, certificate level and diploma level. The term general NEBOSH courses
, means courses which are focused around good general occupational health and safety practice, rather than health and safety in a specific field. Such courses include the award level NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Qualification, the certificate level and both the National and international General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
Option 2: Construction
There are only two construction NEBOSH courses
on offer: national or international, which are both at the certificate level. As with most NEBOSH courses
that are offered both nationally and internationally, the national course is specifically designed to address all the current UK legislation that health and safety professionals in the construction industry will need. The international course is designed in a similar way to the national, but leaves out all the UK specific legal elements, focuses more on general good helath and safety practice in construction.
Option 3: Fire
In a similar fashion to the construction NEBOSH courses
, there are also two fire safety courses available. Again these are broken into the national and international variety, each with a slightly different focus as described above. The NEBOSH fire courses cover three modules. The first is general health and safety foundations, the second contains fire specific elements such as principles of fire safety, causes of fire and protection of buildings and people. The third element is a practical assessment, based on the theory learnt on the course. This usually takes the form of a risk assessment.
Option 4: Environment
There are three environmental NEBOSH courses available. An award level course, certificate level course and a diploma level course. All three environmental NEBOSH courses are based around UK legislation. The award level course combines general health and safety with environmental concerns for the process industry. While the certificate level and diploma level courses focus on environmental management.
Option 5: Health and Well Being at Work
Currently there is one health and well being NEBOSH course. The course is comprised of two units. The first of which concentrates on the theory side of health and well being at work, such as how work can effect our health, attendance, mental health and how to promote and support health in the workplace. The second unit is a practical assessment of the learning completed in the first module.
Option 6: Oil and Gas
There is also one single oil and gas NEBOSH course available at the moment. This is also certificate level course. The course consists of one single unit, split into five elements and an assessment. The five elements include two on hydrocarbon process safety, one on general health, safety and environmental management, one on fire protection and emergency response and one on transport and logistics. The course is particularly suited to those working with oil and gas on a day to day basis in a managerial or supervisory position.
