Maintaining a Safe Site – Site Management Training
If you are a manager or supervisor, or hold a similar position on a construction site, it important to ensure that you are always following the required safety codes to keep your staff protected. Site management training can be a great way to top up your knowledge and reiterate the current regulations that you must adhere to.
Site management training through an accredited or approved training scheme is an excellent way to make sure managerial staff are clear about their responsibilities and can maintain a safe and efficient site.
Site management training in the construction sector can cover a number of different subjects, from electricity and scaffolding to setting up a well planned site. There are a large range of course options available if you would like to book
site management training, with courses suitable for a range of different industries besides construction. In addition to construction orientated courses there are safety courses for civil engineering companies, as well as specialist niche courses, for example, for those who provide interior contracting or shop-fitting services, but most site management training is within the construction industry and carried out through the CITB’s SMSTS scheme. These courses are available nationwide, and any good provider should be able to offer different courses at a range of locations. It may also be possible to arrange
site management training at your own site, particularly useful if you would like to enrol a larger number of staff members on one course.
Site management training schemes can be booked as block courses or arranged via a day release timetable, to ensure that your staff do not miss large chunks of valuable work time. Fitting additional training around current work commitments can be difficult, but by running courses over a period of weeks, on one day a week, it is much easier to build up training schemes over a period of time.
Any training schemes that you choose should be certified by the appropriate regulatory bodies, to ensure that they will cover all the essential health and safety requirements. In terms of the construction industry, the main body is the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), and any site management training or short courses that you undertake should be certified by the CITB. CITB courses are delivered by the CITB approved training providers throughout the UK. These courses will help managers so that they can ensure that there sites are run safely and efficiently; accidents in construction can be very dangerous and costly, and good health and safety managers can safeguard the site and all its’ staff.
To arrange any training scheme it is always best discuss the various options with the training provider before booking, so that they can then help you to work out a training timetable in a location that is suitable for your business needs.
