The benefit of a modular course
A NEBOSH course
is a flexible option because it is structured into modules. The usual is two or three modules for an award or certificate level course and four for the diploma level NEBOSH course
. There are several important advantages that completing a course, using a modular structure can provide you.
The first is that the self contained structure of the modules, is brilliant for your learning. Content divided into specialised areas, with clear learning objectives is easier to make sense of. It is also much easier to revise from for the assessment itself.
The second benefit is that, if the worse does happen and you don’t quite make the grade for one of the modules, you will only have to pay for, study for and redo that module. You will not have to redo the whole course, which can save you time, money and effort.
The third benefit is one specific to NEBOSH. It is that a large number of the certificate level courses share a module. This means that some delegates holding modules from a previous NEBOSH course
, do not have to redo them, shortening the course duration, cost and effort involved. This applies to certificates in the national and international category. The National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate and National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety share the NCG1 module (Management of Health and Safety). The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety course, NEBOSH International Certificate in Construction Health and Safety and NEBOSH International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management all share the IGC1 Management of International Health and Safety module. The only exceptions to this are the NEBOSH National Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at Work and NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety, which contain only specific modules, relevant to that subject.
If you already have a NGC1 or IGC1 module and wish to complete another course, look for advertised conversion options or speak to an online training solutions provider, who will be able to correctly match your experience with the course you need.
UK or world wide focus?
Another way in which you can benefit from the flexibility of a NEBOSH course
is by focusing on the most relevant domain of expertise – international or national. Both types of NEBOSH course
are regarded highly within industry. The international course allows delegate’s expertise in health and safety to be transferable from country to country, giving them great potential for employment in a range of locations.
The national course differs from the international as is designed solely for the UK market. This means that candidates can be sure that the knowledge and understanding they receive will bring them up to date with UK specific legislation.
