Aims:

This one day course will reinforce and update your knowledge and understanding of your legal responsibilities regarding health, safety, welfare and environmental issues.

Candidates must take an SSSTS Refresher course before their existing certificate expires, otherwise the full SSSTS course will have to taken again. There is no longer a grace period available.

Objectives:

At the end of the period of training, delegates will be aware of, and be able to:

- Understand the problems of the industry
- Have an understanding of how health and safety law is structured and how it applies to supervisors.
- Identify how their supervisory role fits in with the management structure in controlling the site safety
- Carry our risk assessments and understand the need for method statements
- Carry our effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
- Be able to monitor site activities effectively
- Understand the importance of timely intervention when bad practice is identified.

Pre-requisites:

All delegates must hold a valid SSSTS (CITB) certificate which has been completed within the past five years. This certification can be renewed by completing this one day course.

All delegates must have a good understanding of both the written and spoken English language.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will achieve a CITB accredited certificate which is valid for five years.
