Outdoor Paediatric First Aid
This course is fantastic for those working with children in an outdoor setting who need to meet OFSTED Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements and require the Level 3 Paediatric First Aid Certificate (QCF). It’s equally suited for anyone interested in paediatric first aid seeking to further develop their skills, knowledge and confidence.
The course has been developed particularly to support staff members working with children in an outdoor environment as part of the forest schools initiative (FSLA). An additional 4 hours extra time has been allocated for role play, simulation and the application of first aid in the real world. Being sixteen hours duration and of a practical nature this also meets the needs of many staff requiring first aid certificates by national governing bodies when working outdoors.
Course Content
- Planning for, and dealing with, first aid emergencies involving babies and children
- Unconsciousness and resuscitation of babies and children
- Choking
- Minor cuts, bites, stings, bleeding and shock
- Head, neck and back injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Poisoning
- Effects of extreme heat and cold including febrile convulsions
- Contamination and injury to the eyes and foreign objects in the ears and nose
- Other medical conditions including epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, meningitis and sickle cell anaemia
