NRSWA - New Roads & Street Works Training - Supervisor Units 1, 10 - 14 & 16 (LA, S1-S5, & S7)

Aim: To meet the standards set by City & Guilds in line with the New Roads & Street Works Act 1991

Objectives: To provide delegates with the skills and knowledge required to carry out their duties in order to safeguard themselves and
others

Who Should Attend: Any Supervisor who monitors work carried out on the highway.

Units:

- Unit 001 Location & Avoidance of Underground Services
- Unit 010 Monitoring Signing, Lighting & Guarding
- Unit 011 Monitoring Excavation in the Highway
- Unit 012 Monitoring Reinstatement & Compaction of Backfill Materials
- Unit 013 Monitoring Reinstatement of Sub-Base and Base (Road base) in Non-Bituminous Materials
- Unit 014 Monitoring Reinstatement in Bituminous Materials
- Unit 015 Monitoring Reinstatement of Concrete Slabs
- Unit 016 Monitoring Reinstatement of Modular surfaces and concrete footways

An SWQR card can be achieved by completing any one of the following 6 groupings:
Monitoring Excavation in the road/highway: Units 001, 010, 011
Monitoring Excavation, backfill and reinstatement cold lay: Units 001, 010 – 014
Monitoring Reinstatement hot & cold lay bituminous materials: Units 001,010 & 014
Monitoring Reinstatement of concrete slabs: Units 001, 010 & 015
Monitoring Reinstatement of modular surfaces & concrete footways: Units 001, 010 & 016
Monitoring Signing, lighting & guarding: Unit 010
Be sure that the course that you pick covers the work that you either carry out or intend to carry out.
General courses are: Units 001 & 010 – 014 & 016
Unit 015 is generally taken as an addition
By the end of the course the delegates will be able to summarise the requirements of the New Roads & Street works Act, select appropriate PPE and monitor tools being selected by operatives that are required for the task in hand. Training course methods are by group exercises containing continuous oral assessments which are supplemented with video and classroom based tutorials.
Delegates will be required to provide the following PPE:
Safety Boots
Hi-Vis (long sleeved)
Gloves
Ear Defenders
Waterproof Clothing
Rates include for all certification achieved and for the issue of an SWQR card which is valid for 5 years.
Delegates also have to provide 2 passport photographs (not digital images)
Delegates should inform their trainer if they have any health issues or physical problems that may create difficulties in undertaking elements of their training course.
