Operatives who are required to be involved with the installation, operation and removal of the gate arrangement including airlocks and associated access signage.
Anyone who requires awareness of Airlock installations, operation and removal of the gate.

• Safety and Risks • Requirements and Signing Layouts • Sequence for Installation of an Airlock • Operating an Airlock • Multiple Entry Points with One Crew • Dealing with Incidents and Incursions • Completion of Works Sequence – Removing an Airlock • Assessment.
End of course objectives:
Be aware of • Risks during airlock operations • Plant vehicle interface • Safe industry operational procedures • Minimum standards.
Have Knowledge of • Equipment used to create a ‘gate’ or airlock • Requirements and role of the gate person • Risks in connection with the role • Industry guidance relating to airlocks • Use of technology to manage incursions.
Pre-requisites:
The Temporary Traffic Management Basic Course (TTMBC) is the pre-requisite for undertaking this course. There is no requirement to wait 3 months after taking the TTMBC. You can deliver the TTMBC in the morning and the Gate Person in the afternoon for example.

What is an airlock?
Equipment provided to create a physical and visual barrier to prevent and deter incursions that provides an additional level of security to the workforce in a closed carriageway. Reinforces the delineation cones and signs that guide traffic Creates a location to communicate with drivers/pedestrians in a controlled safe manner
Two types: Single barrier row – no access allowed Double barrier row – works access point.
The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
