Who Should Attend: 

First Aid at Work is a three-day qualification for those who may be required to manage the practicalities of first aid at work and to take charge of incidents. This course is in depth and delegates can expect to interact with the trainer and gain knowledge of many aspects of injuries and illness in the workplace.

Course Aims: 

This course aims to provide delegates with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills required to competently carry out the duties of a workplace first aider. The course will provide delegates with confidence to carry out duties.

Course Contents: 

•    The responsibilities and role of the emergency first aider including safe scene surveys, PPE and passing to emergency services,
•     How to manage a cardiac emergency,
•     How to treat minor injuries including bandaging technique,
•     How to treat a casualty who is responsive and one who is unresponsive,
•     How to provide first aid for choking incidents, shock and seizures,
•     How to provide first aid to a casualty who has burns, eye injuries, sudden poisoning and anaphylactic shock
•     How to recognise the presence of major illnesses such as diabetes and to provide first aid treatment.
•    Effective primary survey and responding safely and promptly in an emergency
•    Understanding effective CPR and defibrillation
•    PPE awareness
•    Recording and reporting of first aid treatment
•    Responsiveness of the casualty and secondary survey
•    Safe airway positions and dealing with an unresponsive casualty
•    Choking
•    Wounds and bleeding
•    Shock
•    Epilepsy
•    Minor injuries
•    Burns and scalds
•    Treatment of bleeding
•    Recognition and treatment of fractures, sprains and strains
•    Treatment of shock
•    Dealing with:-
•    Suspected spinal injuries
•    Chest injuries
•    Eye injuries
•    Head injuries
•    Poisoning
•    Heart and lung conditions
•    Stroke
•    Anaphylactic shock
•    Asthma
•    Diabetes
•    Practicing technique: bandaging and treatment of minor injuries
