BSC Crack Down on CSCS Level 1 Certificates
The British Safety Council have confirmed there has been a rise in the number of fraudulent Level 1 CSCS certificates being used by workers to apply for the CSCS Labourer Card.
Replacement certificates have been previously available either online or in paper format from the BSC, but with the rise in fraudulent applications, the BSC have now stopped this process for the following number formats:
• Certificate number_ONLINE e.g. 1234567L1CE_ONLINE
• Certificate number_PAPER e.g. 1234567L1CE_PAPER
It was found in 2015 that fake CSCS Labourer cards in circulation were increasing; with this now curbed by the BSC, cheaters have turned to other methods to obtain the card.
The CSCS Labourer card is only available to candidates who have passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test within the past 2 years and who have completed the QCF Level 1/SCQF Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. The card lasts for 5 years.
Angeleen Hill, Scheme Manager at CSCS, said, “CSCS remains confident that the majority of cards issued are a result of obtaining a qualification legitimately.”
