First Aid at Work Statutory Certificate

The course syllabus is approved by the Health and Safety Executive and as such meets HSE standards for First Aid Training at this level.

Candidates, on successful completion of the course and final examination will be awarded an HSE approved First Aid at Work Certificate, valid for three years.

The course requires 24 hours training time, plus revision and examination. 

The syllabus addresses: 
- Introduction to First Aid at work 
- Airway management 
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation 
- Wounds and bleeding 
- Management and recognition of M.I. (heart attack) 
- Management of unconscious patient/fits and convulsions 
- Shock and fainting 
- Fractures – injuries to muscles and joints 
- Burns and scalds 
- Eye injuries 
- Poisons 
- Medical Emergencies including child and infant 
- Preparation for examination
