Course Aim


The aim of this course is to refresh the key parts of the IOSH Managing Safely course through an engaging and practical one day course. The focus is on the Plan-Do-Check-Act Health and Safety Management System.


Who Should Attend

This course is aimed at anyone who has previously gained the IOSH Managing Safely qualification and now wishes to refresh their knowledge.

 

Entry Requirements


Candidates must provide evidence of having previously undertaken and passed the IOSH Managing Safely course.

It is recommended that candidates have a minimum of Level 1 in Literacy/English or equivalent to undertake this qualification.

  •  How to plan your health and safety management system.
  •  Your health and safety policy.
  •  Common hazards and how to manage them.
  •  How to carry out a risk assessment.
  •  Risk rating systems and hierarchy of risk controls.
  •  The characteristics of good key performance indicators.
  •  Differences between proactive and reactive performance indicators.
  •  Why incidents and accidents need to be investigated.
  •  The purposes and techniques for both internal and external health and safety audits.
  •  Types of evidence used in an audit.
  •  The procedure for investigation, recognising the human factors involved.
  •  The data and techniques required to produce an incident report.
  •  Measuring health and safety performance.
  •  How to prepare and use active monitoring checklists.
  •  Implementing schedules for active monitoring, recording results and analysing records.
  •  Reviewing performance and continuous improvement.
