Who Should Attend?
This course is aimed at proprietors of small businesses, managers, supervisors, team leaders and anyone else who has a responsibility for the health and safety of others in the workplace. It is also appropriate for those who are considering progressing on to the Advanced Certificate.

Benefits of the Course
On completing this course candidates will be able to:

Demonstrate an understanding of the main concepts of health and safety;
Show awareness of the benefits of health and safety culture;
Explain the roles and responsibilities of individuals, supervisors and management in health and safety
Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety control and improvement strategies available to supervisors

Duration
The duration of the course is 18 hours (3 days) and we usually run the course one day a week over 3 weeks, with the examination on the morning of the fourth day. We usually aim to start the course at 9.00am each day and therefore taking into account time for refreshment and lunch breaks, the course usually finishes around 5.30pm each day.


Assessment
There is a 60 question multiple-choice test and candidates are required to achieve 40 correct answers in order to receive a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Intermediate Certificate in Health and Safety in the Workplace. Candidates who achieve a score of 50 or more will be awarded a merit certificate.QCA Accredited

Entry Qualifications and Progression
It would be an advantage, but not essential, to have taken the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace prior to attending this course. Following this course you might wish to consider the CIEH Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace Course .
