CCNSG - National Courses

The Client Contractor National Safety Group National (CCNSG) course is administered by accredited trainers at locations across the country, focusing on the need for high Health and Safety standards in a range of industries.

It is administered by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) and is aimed at employees within the construction and engineering industries, as well as sub-contractor personnel working within the installation and maintenance sectors.

Those in a supervisory role will be eligible once they have passed this course to sit the CCNSG Leading a Team Safely (LATS) course. This expands upon the National course, teaching site managers, supervisors and team leaders how to promote safe working practices to their team members.

CCNSG Training Course Detail

This is a two-day CCNSG course that offers mandatory and essential basic health, safety and environmental knowledge to those working on construction and engineering sites. There are a number of modules covered including permits to work, relevant legislation and regulations for work.

Candidates will be assessed on each module of the Safety Passport via a multiple-choice question paper.

Successful candidates will be awarded the CCNSG Safety Passport (also known by some as the ECITB Safety Passport or the CCNSG Passport), which is nationally recognised and valid for 3 years. Once this nears expiry, candidates can sit the CCNSG Renewal course which lasts for one day and covers the basics plus any changes to relevant legislation.

• Induction to Health and Safety Law: Work Permits
• Safe working practices
• Safe access
• Accidents and first aid procedures
• Manual handling
• Noise procedures and practices
• Working with cranes and heavy equipment
• Fire precautions and procedures
• PPE
• Scaffolding
• COSHH
• Excavations procedures and practices

Course Delivery

This course will take place over two days and delegates will be expected to sit a multiple-choice examination at the end of each module. Successful candidates will receive temporary passports which are valid for six weeks until the CCNSG Safety Passport cards have arrived.
