Contents The SMSTS certificate lasts for five years, after which time candidates must sit the two day refresher course to renew the certificate and keep the qualification up to date.
The two day refresher course is only available for candidates who have attended the five day course and can provide evidence of attendance. It is designed to help SMSTS certificate holders stay up to date with their knowledge.
Specifically:
- Improving awareness of recent developments in construction legislation and health, safety, welfare and environmental issues
- Helping site managers face the responsibilities imposed on them by new legislation and working practices.
AssessmentAt the end of the course, there is a multiple choice examination which must be passed in order to keep the qualification. The certificate is valid for five years.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a CITB accredited certificate which is valid for five years.
Please note that as of the 1st January 2016, CITB Site Management / Site Supervisor certificates will no longer have a six month grace period and candidates will need to attend a Refresher course before the expiry date of their original certificate.
