SMSTS Refresher Course
Duration
2 days
Qualification
CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme Certificate
The SMSTS course is one of the greatest courses to take if you wish to help show that you are competent when it comes to health and safety. With multiple deaths and thousands of severe injuries in the construction industry you need to be sure you are doing everything possible to reduce these figures. The law states that it is the duty of the manager or anyone in a supervisory position to do everything possible to keep employees safe. This course will help you to understand the laws and apply them in the workplace.
If you pass the final exam and the exercises provided throughout the two day refresher course you will be re-awarded with the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme Certificate.
Course Outline:
Over a period of two days you will cover a wide range of topics. The main point of the course is to give you a complete understanding of your legal duties concerning health and safety. This is taught by giving you information on the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 that tells you what you need to do in order to follow the law. The tutors then help you to apply these laws into your working life. There are a number of important areas of the construction industry which are covered in great detail. These are high risk topics such as evacuation, demolition, scaffolding and working in confined spaces and setting up the site. You are also taught the importance of risk assessments and method statements and how and when to produce them.
Additional information:
Please note that as of the 1st January 2016, CITB Site Management / Site Supervisor certificates will no longer have a six month grace period and candidates will need to attend a Refresher course before the expiry date of their original certificate.
