SMSTS Training Refresher (CITB) - Site Management Safety Training Scheme

Employers are responsible for providing safe and healthy workplace conditions as  well as the right systems and methods for safe activities. Nevertheless employees taking on a management role also have a vital part to play in the equation. They need the right knowledge and the right attitude which demands proper training in the management techniques required in the Approved Code of Practice for the construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations as a demonstration of competence in the role of site manager.

Course Outline

Successful candidates will gain knowledge and skills in:

 

- Current focus of HSE’s attention

- Risk assessment and method statements

- CDM Regulations 2015

- Construction Health, Safety and Welfare (CDM part 2)

- Reporting of Accidents, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences (RIDDOR)

- Overview and changes to the current legislation affecting construction to

• include:
•  
- Work at Height Regulations 2005

- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002

- Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005

- Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005

- Fire on construction sites including Fire Safety Order 2005

- Construction waste and Site Waste Management Plans

Instructors

Courses are carried out by our fully trained HSE/CITB accredited instructors and the training will be of a high quality standard throughout. All instructors possess the NEBOSH Construction Certificate as minimum.

Equipment

Pen/Pencil/Notepad, all other training equipment is provided.

Prerequisites

Candidates must already hold a Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Certificate that has been gained within the previous five years.

Assessment

A multi choice assessment is conducted at the end of the training.

Achievement Measurement

The training is carried out in accordance with Nationally Accredited Standards leading to each delegate being issued a certificate of attainment from the CITB Construction Skills.
