Introduction
The NEBOSH National Diploma in Health and Safety is a qualification designed to provide the underpinning knowledge for a professional career in health and safety. It is a prestigious and demanding course that is internationally recognised as a leading qualification for health and safety. The Diploma itself is acknowledged by IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) as fulfilling the technical requirements for application to a Chartered status.

Entry Requirements
This course is aimed at managers and professional health and safety practitioners and equips the holders to advise on effective management over a wide range of industry sectors. It is a level 6 qualification (UK National Qualifications Network) and as such regarded as a university degree equivalent.
Although there are no formal entrance requirements stipulated by NEBOSH it is highly recommended that applicants possess a NEBOSH certificate or equivalent level.
Entry to the NEBOSH National Diploma will be accepted with the following awards:
- NVQ level 3 & 4 in Health and Safety in the Workplace or Occupational Health and Safety Practice
- NEBOSH National General, Construction or Fire Certificate
- Degree or Post Graduate Diploma / Certificate in relevant subject
However, all applicants will be evaluated individually taking into account the knowledge and experience necessary for success on the NEBOSH National Diploma.
Learning Methodology
Unit A: Three blocks of four days of study (including one revision day) plus a one day site visit.
The course delivery is based on a learner centred approach and is therefore highly participative using tutor’s presentations, practical demonstrations, individual and group projects, guest speakers, games, quizzes and workplace visits. Delegates must be totally committed to both the course and the undertaking of substantial private study in order to prepare fully for the examinations. All study guides, texts and workbooks are provided.
The full diploma must be completed within a five year period.

Certification and Assessment
Unit A: One three hour exam
A unit certificate is awarded denoting successful achievement of each Unit. The Diploma parchment is issued on successful completion of all units.
