Course description: The focus of this programme is on ensuring that projects achieve results and make appropriate impact within the organisation and with external stakeholders. Participants will leave the programme with a framework they can apply to their own project work; they will have explored planning and monitoring techniques, and be aware of how to build and manage a project team.
We will investigate the nature of projects and what makes successful projects. Why is it important to manage expectations and how to carry out a stakeholder analysis.
This course will cover the basics – project planning, critical path analysis and using “Gantt Charts”, as well as the conceptual – managing teams, the importance of people, and problem solving.
The 2-day course will include practical work.
By the end of this workshop participants will be able to: - Understand how and why project work differs from other types of work - Describe and apply the project life cycle - Set project objectives which focus on achieving goals - Use techniques for generating and appraising options - Use a number of project planning tools - Recognise the importance of good project management to the success of projects - Understand how to implement a project and keep it on track - Use a structured approach to address problems arising in projects - Recognise the benefits of project review and evaluation
