Introduction:

The Emergency First Aider course is delivered using a ‘hands-on’, practical approach, combined with tutor presentations.

Emergency First Aid at Work training enables a first-aider to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work.

Course Duration: Emergency First Aid at Work course runs over 1 day

Who Should Attend:

The course is suitable for any person who has been carefully selected to ensure that they are capable of taking on the responsibilities of a first aider

Course Programme:
On completion of training successful candidates should be able to:
- Understand the role of the first aider
- Manage and record an incident
- Understand the importance of avoiding cross infection
- Deal with the unconscious casualty
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Train in the use of an AED (from January 2017)
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and minor burns)

Certification and Assessment:

Attendance certificates will be issued after course completion and are valid for 3 years. It is suggested that certification is renewed every three years to ensure that those persons responsible for First Aid are kept up to date with best practices.
