Course Description:
This course will equip staff with the basic skills and knowledge to take charge of an accident or physical illness occurring in the workplace. The course is recommended by the HSE if the workplace has more than one employee or if personnel work in small teams away from the central base. The focus is on preventing life threatening conditions from deteriorating.
Training for the course means that candidates are given realistic and useful skills that can be effectively used in real life.
Course Outline:
- Initiate and manage a first aid incident (incident management) prior to emergency help arriving
- Performing CPR effectively / treat airway / breathing and circulation problems / unconscious casualty management
- Treat medical illness / bleeding and fractures / burns and scalds / poisoning
- Theoretical input / practical skills / practical incidents based on continual assessment
Assessment: 1 Practical and 1 Theory Exam
Course Duration: 1 day (6hrs)
Certification:
On successful completion, the participants will receive a Highfield accredited Emergency First Aid at Work certificate recognised by the HSE and a EFAW ID Card.
Additional Information
Please note suitable clothing will be required to do the activities on this course such as flat shoes and trousers.
