COSHH - Level 2
Course Details & Pre-requisites: The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations 2005 requires that all memebers of staff that come into contact with a potentially hazardous substance, to be trained the safe methods for handling and cleaning up the substance. This can be something simple like bleach, or a more potent chemical like hydrofluoric acid. This COSHH course will make it easy for all staff to understand what they must do and how to recognise the different types of hazardous substances. There are no prerequisites to join on this course.
Course Aims: To provide the students with the knowledge and skills to minimise the risks associated with COSHH, and what to do in the event of a COSHH incident.
Course Objectives: By the end of the course the students will be able to do the following:
- Discuss the purpose of COSHH in the workplace
- Discuss and demonstrate how to complete a COSHH assessment
- Discuss typical COSHH hazards and risks
- Discuss the effect of various substances on the human body
- Discuss the COSHH regulations of 2005 and how they apply in the workplace
- Identify the different symbols used in marking chemicals
- Discuss the emergency procedures should a spillage occur

Assessment: Written paper: 20 Multi-choice questions.
