This course is for candidates who wish to renew a valid First aid at work certificate. We recommend that you requalify within a month of your certificate expiring.
What's Covered
This course covers the contents of the three-day CIEH Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work course in two days. Candidates will requalify for the three-day course.
Unit 1: Emergency First Aid at Work
- Roles and responsibilities - Assessing an incident - Unconscious casualties - Cardiopulmonary resuscitation - Choking - External bleeding - Shock - Minor injuries - Assessment
Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace
- Revision and practice - Secondary survey - Injuries to bones, joints and muscles - Suspected head and spinal injuries - Chest injuries - Burns and scalds - Eye injuries - Sudden poisoning - Anaphylaxis - Major illnesses - Revision and practice - Assessment
What You Will Learn
By the end of the course candidates will understand:
- The roles and responsibilities of a first aider - The legal requirements for first-aid provision - The importance of accurate incident reporting - How to use first-aid equipment safely - The need to minimise the risk ofinfection - The importance of assessing an incident - When and how to call for help - How to conduct a secondary survey
And be able to:
- Undertakie a primary survey - Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints - Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries - Administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries - Administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds - Administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury - Administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning - Administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis - Provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness
Pre-requisites
CIEH Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work
Assessment
10 question multi choice exam at the end of Day 1 and a 20 question multi choice exam at the end of Day 3 plus Practical Assessments throughout the course

Usually 9.00am - 4.30pm. Course times will be confirmed in the joining instructions once the course has been booked.
The course either has new dates in data loading, or is only run as a dedicated or In Company course.
