Your NEBOSH Options and the right decision for you
NEBOSH Levels
NEBOSH courses are available at three different levels of achievement: award, certificate and diploma. The award qualifications are roughly equivalent to level two in the national qualifications framework (NQF). The certificates are mostly around level three and the diplomas around level six. The main benefit of this is, that there is a course suitable for you, no matter what stage of your career you are at. In addition the clear structure of levels is useful for those professionals that need to shows clear achievement and career progression.
NEBOSH Subjects
NEBOSH courses cover a range of subjects. Some of the courses are based around general occupational health and safety such as the national and international general courses, while others are much more focused on specialised fields of interest. The general NEBOSH courses approach health and safety with a wide perspective, covering issues relevant to most places and types of work. The more specialised course subjects include oil and gas, construction, fire safety and environmental health. These courses are tailored to each specific field, addressing some of the specialised dangers that the fields encompass. This range of subjects is useful, because it means that many people, across different fields of interest can benefit from NEBOSH training, safeguarding their companies employees and advancing their own professional development in the process.
A modular structure
One of the most unique aspects of the programs is that all the NEBOSH courses are offered in a modular fashion. Firstly, this means that if you do not quite make the grade for one of the modules, you will not have to repeat the whole course. Secondly, the general construction and fire certificates all share the same first module NGC1 – Management of Health and Safety. So, candidates already holding this module from the general course, can complete conversion courses for the fire or construction courses. As the conversions are quicker and cheaper than the full courses, candidates can save time and money this way.
Modes of delivery
As NEBOSH courses are so popular throughout the UK and internationally, they are now offered in three different ways. The first is the traditional face to face course. With this type of course, delegates benefits from both face to face tuition and interaction with other students. The second option is the in-house course. This is most beneficial to companies that have a larger group of delegates to train at once. Significant savings can be made in completing the course this way. Contact an online training solutions provider for a quote. The third option is the distance learning course. A relatively new way of completing a NEBOSH qualification, the materials are sent out to the delegates’ home, where they can review them at their own pace. The delegate is supported by the training provider by telephone, email. Social media is often used to enable them to interact with other students and ask questions. This is a particularly good choice for candidates who cannot be spared for the time of a face to face course. It is also good for candidates who wish to gauge their level of competency, before deciding when to take the exam. The exam is often booked at the time of the course booking, but can be rescheduled free of charge, if the candidate informs the training provider before the necessary deadline.
They key benefits of this variety of modes of NEBOSH learning, is that there will be a course that suits your timescale, location or preferred method of learning.
