Introducing the SEATS course
Environment is becoming a buzz word within the construction industry. Clients and employers are not only concerned with the impact of construction projects on the health and safety of the workers and public, but also on the impact these projects have in the short and long term on our environment.
The CITB SEATS course has been designed with this in mind. Its goal is to increase the awareness of site workers, so they may better protect the environment whilst carrying out construction work.
SEATS or Site Environmental Awareness Training is the most recent CITB Site Safety Plus course. Its joins the other well now CITB courses such as SMSTS, SSSTS, PMSTS and the refreshers as part of the CITB programme.

SEATS course is a single day course, offered by individual training providers, accredited by the CITB, in locations throughout the UK. SEATS Training covers a range of environmental issues relevant to construction training. These include how to understand and apply relevant environmental legislation to construction projects, the impact the construction has on the environment, how to comply with the legislation, issues that are included on the new health, safety and environment TST and best practice techniques for protecting the environment onsite.
The
SEATS course is suitable in particular, for construction contractors, subcontractors, site managers and site supervisors. It especially it provides subcontractors with knowledge and understanding of environmental awareness that they need to show primary contractors to gain a contract.
SEATS Training includes topics such as energy and resources, ecology, continuation, waste management, pollution, water management, being a good neighbour and the reasons for protecting the environment. The being a good neighbour element is particularly important as all successful companies know, that good public relations can really help boost a companies profitability.
The SEATS course can also be delivered at your location, for a group of your employees. You need to have at least four delegates, that can be trained at the same time to meet CITB regulations and to make this cost effective. Remember the more you put on the course, the more money you can save on a per person price. In- house courses can also be tailored to the specific needs of the company. Speak to your training provider to see how this can be done for you, however this content will not be part of the exam.
SEATS Courses are assessed by a multiple choice test. Candidates will need to get a minimum of 18 answers out of 25 correct, to pass. There is also a group discussion, where candidates will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding gained in the course.
