Introducing SEATS training
As a single day course, candidates can attend a trainers' venue for face to face
SEATS training or ask a trainer to deliver it to a group of candidates at their site.
Aimed at site managers and supervisors, the
SEATS course goes in to more depth on the specifics of environmental issues that those in the construction industry face. The aim of the
SEATS training course is that candidates are aware of good environmental practice and can implement this, are aware of environmental legislation and can evaluate whether they are meeting these requirements, and the effects that construction can have on the environment.
SEATS training courses cover the importance of the environment, ecology, management systems, waste management, contamination, pollution, being a good neighbour and how to use energy and resources in an effective manner.
The course is assessed in two ways. The first is a 25 question, multiple choice exam, to be performed in exam conditions. Candidates must achieve a minimum of 18 marks to pass the course. The second method of assessment for the
SEATS course is a group discussion, based on the titles ‘being responsible’. Here candidates will have the opportunity to discuss key points on environmental responsibility, demonstrating they have understood and can apply them to their own work situations.
As with many of the site safety plus courses, candidates are given official notes that they can take with them once the course has finished and use as a reference. For
SEATS these notes are known as GE 700, check with your provider that these are included in the cost of the course.
