Overview
The need to communicate is one of the key core competencies, which is required at all levels and in all organisations.
You will learn how to prepare your presentations in such a way as to ensure that you capture the attention of your audience and achieve your objectives.
Every aspect of a presentation is covered in clear terms, which make them easy to understand. In addition to learning new techniques you will also find yourself growing in self-confidence.
The supportive and sympathetic approach of the trainer will ensure that you are able to make dramatic improvements in your ability to put your message across to groups with impact and conviction.
You will have at least two opportunities to make presentations and, as you watch the recordings of these, you will see for yourself the transformation in your ability to deliver with confidence.
You will also be able to practise your presentation skills and be coached by the trainer on a one-to-one basis. This technique will enable you to overcome your natural inhibitions and you may well be surprised at what you find yourself capable of.
You will leave the course with a comprehensive manual of reference documents, which will enable you to:
- Clarify the appropriate objective for your presentation
- Structure the presentation in an effective manner, which will be easy to understand
- Ensure that your presentation holds the attention of your audience
- Use PowerPoint slides to the greatest effect
- Project yourself confidently
- Deal with the difficult questions which the audience might fire at you
You will have the opportunity to make presentations, which are totally relevant to your job responsibilities. This provides you with the opportunity to rehearse, and receive feedback on, important business presentations which you have to make in the future.

Setting your objectives
To quote from the Koran ‘If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will do.’ The first stage in the preparation of a presentation is to clarify what the objective is that you wish to achieve. You will learn that it is often not sufficient to inform an audience, but that they need to be persuaded or inspired.
The techniques you will learn will help you to construct your presentations in such a way that you will be able to achieve your real objective.
Motivation and Persuasion
You will understand the various motivational forces which persuade people to take the actions you want them to take. Your presentations will improve dramatically as you change the content to incorporate the TACK philosophy of ‘You Appeal’ and include the material which meets the Audience ‘wants’.
Openings and Closings
New techniques will ensure that you open and close your presentations in order to create the maximum impact. Once you see the difference these techniques make you will never again start your presentation by saying “What I want to talk to you about today is…” You will also close your presentations powerfully rather than limping to the end by saying, “so, in conclusion…”
Dealing with Questions
Many presenters fear the ‘Any Questions?’ phase of the presentation. Once you have learnt the best techniques of dealing with even the most challenging questions you will look forward to this all important part of the presentation.
Visual Aids
Avoid the trap of ‘Death by PowerPoint’. You will rely less on what is on the screen and more on your ability to speak directly to your audience.
In future you will truly use PowerPoint as an ‘aid’ rather than a crutch. Your audiences will appreciate a style that does not require them to read an endless stream of boring slides full of uninteresting text.
Use of the Voice
No matter how good the content of your presentation is, if you fail to deliver it in a confident and lively voice it will lack impact. You will have the opportunity to experiment with the use of your voice. You may well be amazed at what you are capable of achieving.
Body Language
As soon as you stand in front of an audience they will form their first impressions of you.
You will receive feedback on improvements you can make which will transform the impression you create. You will also discover that acting more confidently will make you feel more confident!
One to One Coaching
Many people find it difficult to push themselves through personal pain barriers which prevent them fulfilling their true potential.
During this session the trainer will persuade you, in an understanding and sympathetic manner, to overcome your inhibitions. You may well be astonished at the changes in your presentations!
Presentations
You will have the opportunity to make two presentations as well as other impromptu ones.
The two business presentations will enable you to practise the kind of presentation which you have to make ‘back at the ranch’. On each presentation you will receive constructive feedback which will help you to improve both the content and the delivery of your presentations.
The DVDs of your presentations will enable you to see the improvements you make as you progress through the course.
Action Plans
A prioritised plan of action will enable you to meet the challenge of implementing what you have learnt on the course.
You will leave the course with a personalised list of the changes you will make to the content of your presentations and how you deliver them.
You will also take away personal DVD which will be a permanent reminder of what you are really capable of achieving.
