The course is assessed in two ways:
- A theoretical assessment via a multi-choice question paper [Delegates need to get 24/30 to progress to the afternoon practical session] 
- A practical assessment to demonstrate knowledge of directing a vehicle

By the end of the course candidates will have demonstrated correct signalling to direct vehicles and also correct questioning of vehicle drivers at the gate entrance.

Course Content consists of: 
- Legislation - Going through all relevant legislations and covering the Employer and Employees responsibility 
- What is workplace transport - What counts as site transport, 
- Risks & Hazards - What risks and hazards do we get from site transport and who is at risk 
- Duties & Responsibilities - What are the duties of a vehicle marshal and what it takes to be a competent person? 
- Control of Traffic - How do we control traffic on site? 
- Site Plans - What is in a traffic plan and who puts it all in place? 
- DVD - Vehicle Accidents 
- Question Paper – 30 Multiple choice questions 24/30 
- Practical – Practical Session [In this practical session delegates will need to guide a vehicle from a main road safely into an unloading area using all the correct signals etc that have been learnt on the course.
