Course Aim
This course is intended to enable participants to receive input on, and demonstrate understanding of, construction industry specific Health, Safety and Environmental standards, working practices and requirements relevant to the work site.

Course Objectives:
- Explain the required under ‘site set up’ for First Aid, Accident Reporting & Welfare Facilities
- Complete a basic 5 step risk assessment
- Explain the basic requirements of a ‘Permit to Work’
- Explain what is required to protect Excavations
- Explain how to work safely in the vicinity of underground apparatus.
- Explain the requirements under PUWER & LOLER Regulations
- Assess what is required to use electricity on site
- Assess what is required to comply with site Fire regulations
- Discuss requirements for the Confined Space & Manual Handling Regulations
- Explain how Hand & Arm vibration syndrome is caused.
- Identify a range of Noise Hazards.

Content:
The course is made up of 8 modules entitled. 
- Introduction to the Health & Safety law and Safe System of Work 
- Workplace safety 
- Fire Precautions and Procedures 
- Accidents and First Aids 
- Hazardous Substances 
- Manual Handling 
- Noise at Work and Vibration 
- Excavations and Confined Space

Each module is followed by a written assessment.

Course Duration:
6.5 hours contact time i.e. one day

Type of Certificate:
CSTS Certificate.

Accreditations:
Competence based, valid for three years.
