This course addresses the roles and responsibilities of CDM Co-ordinator as required by the CDM Regulations 2007, in particular the duty to liaise, communicate, cooperate and coordinate with designers, principal contractors and others on behalf of the client. Practical and theoretical experience in techniques under the CDM Regulations is gained with an examination of competence at the end.

Who is this Course aimed at?

This course is targeted predominantly at those who practice presently as Planning Supervisors and wish to continue their careers as CDM Coordinators; the course also offers a good awareness of responsibilities for clients, designers and contractors.

Learning Outcomes

- Appreciate the significance of competence & adequacy of resourcing issues.
- Identify with the procedures for co-ordination, co-operation and communication.
- Understand the main requirements of the CDM regulations as they apply to designers, clients, coordinators and contractors.
- Determine the content & examine critically the component parts of a safety plan.
- Understand the co-ordination required in the design process, in particular design inherent safety.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of risk assessment as it applies to construction, particularly within the role of designer and to be able to coordinate and assess risk assessments provided by others.
- Understand the content required and function of the H&S file.
- Understand the scope of project in relation to the two stage test.
