QuarkXPress Advanced
Pre-requisites
Delegates attending the QuarkXPress Advanced course should have either attended the QuarkXPress Introduction course or have gained similar experience in the work place.
Objectives
Prepare and layout complex documents, using Styles, Tables and advanced formatting techniques.
Long document handling
- Advanced preferences, creating templates.
Master pages
- Creating and using master pages, multiple master page use, page numbering, section breaks.
Layout
- Guide manager, guides, baseline grid, align to baseline grid.
Advanced text formatting & text control
- Advanced style sheets, applying style sheets, appending style sheets, generating and formatting a Table of Contents, generating and formatting an Index, advanced tab handling.
Using images
- Picture box options, clipping paths, alpha channels for text wrap, run-around options, picture formats and usage, best practice for images.
Library palette
- Create a library, putting items into libraries, modify/delete library items.
Books
- Creating books, add, edit, delete book chapters, master chapters, sequential page numbering throughout book chapters, print chapters/book.
Tables
- Advanced table formatting, formatting text in cells, image positioning in table cells.
Layers
- Using layers, layer order and options.
Printing & Exporting
- Print dialogue box, collect for output, pre-flight options, .PDF options.
