The tried and tested concept of "The 5 Rights" is still a sound starting point for newcomers to the materials supply business.

This course is intended for: 
- newcomers to buying and storage activity, including new hires and transfers from other department 
- warehouse staff needing to understand the overall business 
- management trainees.

This introductory course visits Right Materials, Quality, Location, Time and Price as a theme within which to examine the core supply topics of:

- Identifying demand
- Specification
- Supplier Appraisal
- Bid comparisons and vendor selection
- Ordering processes
- Receiving
- Storage
- Warehouse operations
- Issues
- Transport
- Disposal.

Participants will also develop an awareness of the roles and concepts of catalogues and codes, inventory management, total cost of ownership, sustainability and environment management issues.
