PRINCE2® 2009 Foundation and Practitioner

Pre-requisites

This course is designed for people working in project management team roles such as Project Manager, Team Manager and Project Board members. It can also be applied in other management or support roles in an organization where a formal PRINCE2 practitioner qualification is required.

Objectives
Understand the need for a project management method and how PRINCE2 meets that need by understanding the PRINCE2 principles, governance themes and the process model (see below).

Delegates will also be introduced to the Product-based Planning and Quality Review techniques as well as be able to apply PRINCE2 to a project appropriate to their level in the organization.

The course also prepares delegates to sit both the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner examinations. Delegates should be prepared to undertake 10 - 11 hours of pre-course study within the 2 weeks prior to their course and also commit to revision/further study work in the evenings during the course.

Delegates will receive their pre-course work and a copy of the official OGC PRINCE2 manual prior to their course start date.

Examinations
The examination body is the Association for Project Management Group (APMG). Ltd

Foundation level examination
Aims to measure whether a candidate would be able to act as an informed member of a project management team using the PRINCE2 method within a project environment supporting PRINCE2. To this end candidates need to show they understand the principles and terminology of the method. The examination is a one-hour, 75 question, multiple-choice paper, taken on day 3 of the course.

Practitioner level examination
Aims to measure whether a candidate, in the role of Project Manager, could apply PRINCE2 to the running and managing of a non-complex project within an environment supporting PRINCE2. To this end they need to exhibit the competence required to pass the Foundation examination. The Practitioner examination is based around a given project scenario and consists of nine questions to be answered within 2.5 hours. The examination is open-book (only the PRINCE2 Manual is allowed) and is sat on day 5 of the course. Please note you must passed the Foundation examination before sitting the Practitioner examination.
