Managing Successful Programmes Foundation & Practitioner

This accredited course covers the OGC syllabus for the MSP framework and leads to the Foundation and Practitioner certificate examinations being taken within this 5-day course.

Note that the new Advanced Practitioner examination is taken separately via a further 2-day course. It will provide those responsible for programme management with a recognised structure enabling them to realise the business benefits from programmes. This course is designed to meet the updated MSP syllabus (launched in September 2007).

Course duration
5 days, with recommended 5 hours pre-study time required.

Who should attend?

It is designed to support any organisation or individual requiring a controlled approach to
managing their programmes. Ideally delegates should be programme managers, key programme support office staff or senior project managers.

Pre-requisites
Delegates should be already working in a programme environment but no prior knowledge
of the MSP method will be required. PRINCE2 Practitioner qualification is an advantage.

Course style

Theory and practical case study work, delivered by a trainer who has practical experience of both project and programme management, will lead the delegates through the MSP framework and will work towards the final examinations using sample questions. Pre-course preparation material consisting of the MSP Manual and workbook ensures delegates are prepared for, and gain the maximum benefit from the workshop. Delegates will be required to do evening work during the week that the course is taking place.

Public course price
£1,545 + VAT per delegate inclusive of lunch, refreshments, foundation and practitioner examination fees.

Course objectives
Foundation delegates will be able to: 
- Describe the purpose of all roles, processes and deliverables. 
- State which deliverables are input and output from which processes. 
- State the relationships between processes, deliverables, roles and the management dimensions of a programme.

Practitioner delegates will also be able to: 
- Produce worked examples of role descriptions, detailed explanations of processes, and worked examples of deliverables. 
- Show they understand the relationships between processes, deliverables, roles and
the management dimensions of a programme, and can apply this. 
- Demonstrate that they understand the reasons behind the various elements of MSP, and that they understand the principles underpinning these elements. 
- Demonstrate their ability to apply and adapt MSP to different Programme circumstances. 
- Demonstrate an understanding of Programmes in context with Business Operations, and Projects.
