Aims and Objectives:
This Managing Asbestos course has been designed to provide delegates with information and guidance on the risks of working with or around asbestos. This course will give guidance on recognising asbestos within buildings and facilities and what to do when asbestos is present.

Delegates will gain knowledge of the legal mechanisms in place to control asbestos and be given guidance on the duty to manage asbestos in the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2006.

At the end of this course delegates should be able to: 
- Discuss the hazards of working with asbestos and asbestos containing materials (ACMs), including ill health. 
- Explain where asbestos is likely to be present in buildings and how exposure to asbestos can be avoided. 
- Recognise the steps to be taken when asbestos or suspected ACMs are discovered. 
- Provide information on asbestos legislation. 
- Your duty to manage the risk from asbestos in commercial premises. 
- Logical steps to comply with the Regulations.

- What is asbestos? 
- Where might asbestos be found in buildings? 
- Health hazards of asbestos and why it is dangerous? 
- Who is at risk? 
- How can asbestos fibre be released? 
- What are the risks? 
- What does the law say? 
- Duty holders and responsibility. 
- Asbestos surveys and management plans.

Certification:
All delegates who complete this course, will be awarded the:
Managing Asbestos Certificate of Attendance and Achievement
