Lookout & Site Warden Initial

This course allows the candidate to be appointed as a lookout or site warden for a group working on or near the line under the supervision of a controller of site safety (COSS).

The course is one days in duration and comprises of classroom based instruction, followed by written and practical assessments. Max number is 8 candidates.

Pre-requisites for attendance

The candidate must hold a valid track safety card with PTS and medical.

Upon successful completion of the course the candidate will receive a sentinel track safety card valid for two years, at which point they will have to attend a one day recertification course.

During the two year period they will need to maintain a logbook, which will be issued by the training provider, all entries will be endorsed by the COSS and it must be reviewed by their manager at least twice within the two year period.

Failure to maintain the logbook will lead to loss of the lookout and site warden competence and another one day course would be required.

There are two additional competences that can be held which are Pee Wee and Kango, if these are required then an additional day and a maximum of 6 candidates, if both are required the the number of candidates is reduced to 4.

This course can be delivered at our training centre or at the clients premises (subject to specific criteria being met in relation to the training venue, requirements as specified by Achilles).
