IOSH Managing Client / Contractor Relationship (CDM)

Intended for Construction / Project Managers, Construction Supervisors
and anyone who employs or manages contractors and wishes to develop
an understanding and awareness of the current legislative requirements.

Course Content
The course is arranged into modules and provides an understanding of the knowledge
and skills required in managing construction operations and the employment of
contractors.

Objectives
To develop an awareness and competence to manage construction projects safely
and effectively, develop company policy in compliance with current legislation and
adopt construction industry best practice. On successful completion delegates will:
• Develop an awareness of the legal aspects and the implications of failing to
manage construction activity
• Understand the potential for personal injury litigation and liability insurance
• Identify the application of CDM and understand the implications
• Understand the notification requirements for construction projects
• Identify the function and duties of the ‘’duty holders’’ under the CDM Regulations
• Be able to prepare and develop health and safety plans
• Develop an awareness of construction health and safety risks and decide on
appropriate control measures
• Understand the requirements, preparation and development of
health & safety files

Assessment
The course material is evaluated by means of a multi-choice assessment paper and
a project. Successful completion of the programme results in the award of an
Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) certificate.

Presentation
Courses can be delivered “In-company” if numbers and facilities permit.
The courses are also run on an open basis at our various training venues.
(Assistance in finding accommodation can be provided if required)

Funding Available
CITB Levy Payers may be eligible to claim ‘CITB Attendance and Achievement Grants’
for the course.
