Course Description
The IOSH Directing Safely Course trains top level decision makers to develop an appreciation of the moral, financial and legal issues relating to workplace health and safety throughout the management process.
Who Should Attend
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge of senior management and Board Level Directors in their current understanding of health and safety. This internationally recognised training course is also ideal for companies that need to meet the ever-increasing demand for evidence of health and safety compliance. Directors often have an ‘eye opening’ experience whilst attending this course, when their responsibilities are outlined for them.
Course Content
Directing Safely outlines the charges of manslaughter and corporate killing it also explains the role of directors in Health & Safety management, and the basic principles behind the HSE’s Revitalising Health & Safety strategy. It explains how to identify the root causes of accidents and the reasons for promoting Health & Safety in the workplace. It outlines the main sections of the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974, particularly relating to employers, managers, manufacturers, suppliers, designers and importers. These are linked to strategic management and planning, and the development and benefits of effective safety management systems, with a continual improvement and active monitoring programmes along with the importance of identifying key objectives and the development of key performance indicators. It goes on to outline the principles governing and the use of workplace precautions.
