Who Should Attend?
The overall aim of this programme is to remind candidates how to supervise food safety to control contamination and safeguard the health of consumers. The programme will also update candidates on recent changes in food safety legislation.

Importance of supervising high standards of cleanliness in food premises
Importance of good pest control practice
Need for high standards of personal hygiene
Importance of being able to contribute to staff training
Principles of the HACCP system and how a supervisor can contribute to the implementation of a food safety management system
Implementation of a food safety management system, such as the FSA’s Safer Food, Better Business

Duration
The duration of the course is 6 hours. We usually aim to start the course at 9.00am and therefore taking into account time for refreshment and lunch breaks, the course usually finishes around 4.30pm.

Assessment
There is a short multi-choice test at the end of the course. Candidates are required to correctly answer 20 out of 30 questions in order to achieve a Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety Refresher.

Entry Qualifications and Progression
A photocopy of your original Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety, dated within the last 3 years, must be provided in order to receive a CIEH Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety Refresher. The original certificate must be issued by one of the following awarding bodies: CIEH, RIPHH, RSPH, SOFHT, REHIS. Following this course you might wish to consider the CIEH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering or Manufacturing .
