Course Description
The Implementing BS 8901:2009 course is designed to provide delegates with the expertise that will enable them to design, install and maintain a management system that not only meets the requirement of the standard, but also delivers measurable benefits from Day One.
The course takes the complex concepts that underpin the standard and turns them into practical, common sense solutions that can be used to improve management practice in your organisation. Expert instructors directly involved in the revision of the standard, the development of certification and experience in sustainability management system implementation provide a detailed skills transfer during this two day non-residential course.
The course structure incorporates interactive group work, discussions and presentations, while supporting tools and templates are available for attendees to take away. The course includes an in-depth examination of what is required for any external certification/registration process.

-Individuals and project managers directly involved in the support or implementation of BS 8901
-Managers at all levels involved in environmental, health and safety, or quality systems
-Senior executives in event, media and communications management considering the adoption of BS 8901 directly or working with clients who are doing so (including 2012 Olympic contracts)
- Corporate Sustainability or CSR Managers, procurement professional and those with responsibility for planning and delivering corporate events
This course will enable you to:
-Explain the project management requirements for a BS 8901 implementation project, including resource and timescale calculations, relationship to events, ongoing requirement etc.
-Identify the range of specialist skills required by project manager and/or implementation team
-Describe the detailed requirements of the BS 8901:2009 standard
-Define the relationship between BS 8901:2009 (sustainability for events) ISO 14001:2004 (environmental management), ISO 9001:2008 (quality management) and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 (Health and Safety management)
-Outline practical steps for monitoring and measuring outputs at events
-Evaluate auditing practice, objective evidence and the emerging certification process
Course Prerequisite
Some prior knowledge of the structure and content of BS 8901:2009 will allow maximum benefit for the attendees, but no formal qualifications or experience is necessary.
