Highway Law Client/Contractor Intensive Course

Who Should Attend
The PFI Highway Law course is designed to meet the needs of all parties to contracts between Highway Authorities and their procurement partners.

Objectives
Presentations will be interactive wherever possible with the use of case studies to enhance learning and understanding. There is much to learn and it is recommended to allow a full day from 8.30am to 5pm.

Content
- Responsibilities and liabilities of the Highway Authority under Statute and common law
- Duties and powers by which the highway is managed
- Understanding cascade of risk onto consultants and designers without delegating statutory obligations
- Implementing a highway maintenance risk assessment and management regime
- Responding to responsibilities and liabilities for highway safety
- Managing highway enforcement issues
- Critical issues in identifying, recording & presenting evidence
- Discussion (inspecting highway structures)
