This course is designed for all levels of employees and provides a good foundation on many aspects of health and safety and best practice, including the Regulations.
Objectives:
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- Identify the main duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and how the EU effects the UK
- Understand the application of criminal and civil law.
- Define an accident, incident / near miss and dangerous occurrence and recognise immediate, basic and root causes of accidents.
- Appreciate the true cost of accidents at work and understand the requirements of RIDDOR.
- Understand and apply the requirements of the legislation within the Six Pack.
- Identify how chemicals affect the body, complete a chemical risk assessment and the requirements to control chemical exposure.
- Identify fire hazards, how fire spreads, the classes of fire extinguishers and the techniques available for fire prevention / control.
- Define first aid requirements at work.
- Understand the role of safety reps and the functions of a safety committee.
